Creating a Legacy of Sponsorship and Support

Charlie Bonser ’15

As most of you know, generous donations by members of the Arrupe Society fund many scholarships for our students. I would like to share the story of one of these students, Charlie Bonser ’15, whose scholarship was provided by Arrupe Society members Noreen and Terry Keating ’56.

Charlie attended St. Michael Grade School in Livonia. The High proved to be a challenge for Charlie, but he met the challenge and graduated as one of the valedictorians of the Class of 2015. In fall 2016, he will be a sophomore at Michigan State University, where he is enrolled in the Honors College and Business School. He is planning to major in Supply Chain Management.

Recently, his Mom, Amy Bonser, sent me a note reiterating the family’s appreciation for our financial aid program. Here is a portion of what she wrote:

We are still extremely grateful for the sponsorship and support Charlie received from the Keating family. We truly believe that Charlie is a “Man for Others” as a result of his experience at U of D Jesuit. He knew that his attendance was made possible by great sacrifice from his own family, but was also greatly aware that the Keating family was making an investment in him, as well. He was determined to make himself worthy of the sacrifices made on his behalf and to immerse himself completely in the U of D experience. We are so grateful for the decision the school made years ago (to establish a scholarship fund) which allowed us to send our son to U of D.

Currently, more than 300 of our students receive financial aid due to the generosity of Arrupe Society members. Unless the donor otherwise restricts his/her gift, all planned gifts are added to the financial aid endowment. Your planned gift will help ensure that future generations of Cubs will benefit from a Jesuit education. Thank you for your support.
