A Journey of Gratitude and Giving Back

Tom Page

At the heart of philanthropy lies a profound sense of gratitude that resonates with U of D Jesuit alumnus, Tom Page ’67. Reflecting on his transformative years at The High, Tom shares a journey shaped by the values instilled by a Jesuit education and an unwavering commitment to giving back.

“The school opened my eyes up to a much bigger world, with more possibilities than I had ever known, even envisioned,” said Tom. “I also inculcated a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices that my parents made to send me to U of D Jesuit.”

The school cultivated self-discipline, good study habits and a sense of pride in being called the “briefcase boys,” a reference made by students from other schools about U of D Jesuit students for their challenging academics.

Motivated by the profound impact of his education, Tom began donating to U of D Jesuit, a decision rooted in a deepening appreciation for the school’s commitment to building “Men for Others.” He attributes his approach to community service to his Jesuit education. He gives financially to U of D Jesuit to help other young men become thoughtful citizens who contribute to their own communities.

“The older I get, the more I understand and appreciate how my experience at U of D Jesuit contributed to my growth as a person and professionally,” said Tom. “The Jesuit value of cura personalis—care for the whole person—has stuck with me. Knowledge is important, as are skills. But these aspects of life need to be supported with spirituality, ethics, philosophy and religion.”

For fellow alumni considering donating, Tom advises reflecting on how the impact of attending U of D Jesuit had on their lives. He encourages visiting and connecting with current students to witness the excellence the institution continues to foster.
